Overview
There are three ways to stop an EV charging session, depending on whether you also want to end your parking session:
In the app — stops both charging and parking
Unplug the charger — stops charging and may also end your parking session
Tap your RFID card — stops charging only
Important: If you are leaving the parking facility, make sure your parking session is ended in the app — not just your charging session. Otherwise, you may continue to be charged for parking.
Tip: If the stop flow isn't behaving as you'd expect (the charger isn't releasing, your kWh count looks off, or the session is still showing as active), see Why isn't my EV charging? for troubleshooting.
Stop charging and parking in the app
Open the Parkable app
Your active EV charging session appears on the home screen
Tap Stop parking
Tap Confirm
Your charging session and parking session both end.
Stop charging by unplugging
If you want to keep parking but stop charging, simply unplug the charger from your vehicle.
Note: Some parking facilities are set up to automatically end the parking session when you unplug the charger. If you're not sure, check the app to confirm whether your parking session is still active before walking away.
Stop charging with an RFID card
If you started your session with an RFID card, you can also stop the charging session by tapping the same RFID card or tag on the EV charger.
This stops the charging session. Your parking session ends automatically when you unplug the charger (if the facility is set up for this — see above).
After your session ends
At some parking facilities, you may need to move your vehicle to a non-charging space if you're staying parked but no longer charging. Check the signage at the facility or ask your parking administrator if you're not sure.
