Managing your auto-end settings

Set how long your parking sessions run before they end automatically.

Overview

Session auto-end automatically ends your parking session after a set time, so you don't keep being charged if you forget to stop it manually. By default, your sessions auto-end after 12 hours.

You can change this to anywhere between 1 and 24 hours, or 1 and 7 days — useful if you regularly park overnight or for longer stretches.

Note: Your changes only apply to new sessions. A session that's already running will keep its original auto-end time. To change a session that's already running, see I need to park for longer, can I extend my parking session?.

How to change your auto-end setting

  1. Open the Parkable app

  2. Tap Account in the bottom navigation bar

  3. Under Parking, tap Session auto-end

  4. Choose any duration between 1 hour and 7 days

  5. Your selection is saved automatically and applies to your next session

Notifications before auto-end

Parkable sends you a push notification one hour before your session is set to auto-end, with the option to extend it. You can extend by up to 24 hours.

Important: If you've set your auto-end to longer than 24 hours, you won't receive a reminder before it runs out — your session will simply continue until the auto-end time or until you tap Stop parking.

If your parking facility caps your auto-end

If you park at a private parking facility (for example, through your workplace), your organisation may set its own auto-end limit for sessions at their facility. When this is the case:

  • The organisation's auto-end overrides your personal setting, but only for sessions at their parking facility

  • You'll see a yellow highlighted note on the start session and active session screens letting you know your organisation's setting applies

  • Your personal auto-end still applies everywhere else (e.g. public parking)

FAQs

Why didn't my auto-end change apply to my current session?

Auto-end changes only apply to new sessions. A session that's already running keeps the auto-end time it started with. To extend the current one, see I need to park for longer, can I extend my parking session?.

What if I need to park for longer than 7 days?

For long-term parking, a permit is usually a better fit than hourly parking. If your parking facility offers monthly or weekly permits, you can start one yourself in the app — see How do I start a monthly permit in the app?. Otherwise, talk to your parking administrator about getting set up.

Will I be charged the whole time my session is running?

Yes. Your session continues to be charged until it ends — either when it hits your auto-end time, when you extend it, or when you tap Stop parking. Always end your session when you leave the parking facility to avoid being charged for time you aren't using.
