Why does it look like I've been double charged for my parking?

Bank processing delays can make charges from different days appear at the same time.

Overview

If your bank statement looks like you've been charged twice for parking on the same day, it's almost always due to a bank processing delay rather than an actual double charge.

Banks don't always process card transactions on the day they happen — sometimes a charge takes a day or two to appear. If you parked on consecutive days, an older charge can land in your account at the same time as a newer one, making it look like one session was charged twice.

Note: Processing delays are controlled by your bank, not Parkable. The actual charges leave your account on the bank's schedule.

How to check whether it's a real duplicate

  1. Open the Parkable app

  2. Go to AccountParking history

  3. Compare the dates and amounts of your sessions to the charges on your bank statement

  4. Each parking session in the app should match exactly one bank charge

If you can match every charge to a session, it's a processing delay — no real duplicate. If a charge doesn't match any session, contact Parkable support and we'll investigate.

FAQs

Will the duplicate charge disappear on its own?

If the second charge is the previous day's session catching up, no — both are real charges for separate sessions, just landing on the same bank statement day. Check your parking history to confirm.

What if there's genuinely a duplicate charge that doesn't match a session?

Contact Parkable support with the date, amount, and (if you have it) a screenshot of the charge. We'll investigate and arrange a refund if the charge was made in error. For private parking facilities (e.g. through your workplace), refunds are managed by your parking administrator — see Refund policy - private car parks.

My charge looks higher than expected, not duplicated — is this the same issue?

No — see Why might I be charged more than expected for parking? for explanations of rate periods and other factors that can affect the total.

My payment failed, what do I do?
