Change your assigned parking space

Switch to a different space during your active session if the one you've been assigned isn't suitable.


Overview

If the space allocated to you isn't suitable — for example, it's too small or hard to access — you can switch to a different space directly from the Parkable app while your session is active.

Important: If a vehicle is in your space, don't switch — report the issue instead so we can move you and stop it happening to the next parker. See I've arrived at my carpark and someone is in my space, what do I do?.


How to change your space

  1. Open the Parkable app

  2. On your active session screen, tap Space

  3. The Change space page shows the available spaces

  4. Tap Show all to see the full list

  5. Tap Select next to the space number you want to use

Your session continues uninterrupted at the same price.


What you'll see in the list

You'll only see spaces that are available to you. A space won't show if it's already booked, out of service, or in a group you don't have access to.

Important: Only park in the space the app shows as yours. Even if a space looks empty in the parking facility, it may already be reserved by another parker.

Note: If your parking facility is part of a campus, you may also see spaces at another parking facility nearby.

Note: If your space is a sharing pool space, you can only swap to another sharing pool space.


When you can't change spaces

You can't switch spaces in the app if:

  • You have a reserved permit for a specific space — contact your parking administrator to arrange a different space

  • You're parking under an unreserved permit — you'll need to end your session and start a new one

FAQs

I've parked in the wrong space — can I swap to it?

Yes, as long as the space you've parked in is available to you. On your active session screen, tap Space and select the space you're parked in from the list (see the steps above). Your session continues at the same price.

If the space you've parked in is already reserved by another parker, it won't appear in your list, so you won't be able to swap to it. In that case:

  • If another space is available, swap to one of those and move your car to it

  • If you can't move your car and no other space is available, contact Parkable support so we can help sort it out


The app won't let me change my space

You can only change space once your session is active. If you've reserved a space, it's a 30-minute hold rather than an active session — open the Reservation details screen and tap Start session, then tap Space to change it. See How to reserve a space in the app.
